Like it, like it..... I can leave so much abstract work to one side, but this has echoes of Mondrian and so many other artists, while being very obviously your very own work. I could very happily live with this painting.

Very early Mondrian I think. But thank you, especially since I'm very interested in the work of artists of the early 20th c. to 1970s. They were pioneers and the more I study their work, the more I understand what they were about, although I may not necessarily like all their work. I'm still in 2 minds about Jackson Pollock. (I prefer the work of his wife, Lee Krasner - much overlooked by the modern art world.) And I hate Dadaism. I think I understand a bit your feelings towards some abstract work. 2009 I took part in an art project at a local gallery. Some of the other contributions on display had even me scratching my head!

Mixed media on Bockingford watercolour paper. Media used: Derwent Inktense pencils, water-soluble wax crayon, soft pastel, sugarcraft lustre. Inktense pencils are fabulous. The colours are rich, and you get the translucency of ink, but with the texture of aquarelle pencil. Water-soluble wax crayons are a wonderful invention! Subject: I've always been interested in archeology, and as an artist I'm fascinated by the patterns that old buildings leave behind. The title is also a bit playful, as I do sometimes like to get the viewer guessing!
