I love Poole Harbour and the surrounding area. This view is from the highest part of Compton Acres, taken with a zoom on my bridge camera through the pines above Canford Cliffs golf course. I wanted to do another Gouache to try to improve my use of this media. The blues used were Cerulean, and Ultramarine. The Yellows were Naples yellow and Brilliant Yellow, Red was Crimson. Additional colours were Spectrum Violet, Brown Pink, Flesh Tint, Brilliant Green, Sap Green, Burnt Sienna, Black and Titanium white . I still don't feel all that secure with gouache, but I didn't have much trouble with underneath layers lifting when applying paint over the top of them...maybe I'm getting better at judging the amount of water in the mix. I like the composition of the painting, and I think I'll have a go at repeating the scene on a larger scale in watercolour, or maybe use those Acrylics that sit in a jar and rarely get used!
