The Avon at Christchurch ( 10" x 14" )
I painted this earlier this year, eleven years after I went on a local painting holiday run by the late Alan Simpson, who was a much admired local artist, and who I think was an exceptional watercolorist, who made painting watercolours look easy...it wasn't. Unfortunately, I had recently messed up a disc in my back, and I couldn't sit or stand for long periods. I did take photos of the areas that Alan chose for us to paint from, and this is from one of them. There were many more boats than this, but less is more when painting river scenes. The Priory can be seen almost from anywhere near this part of the river where it meets the Stour.
