Most unusual, and interesting in its simplicity, excellent colours and the light behind the tree is superb. I see that I've not talked you into that 300lb stuff yet!

I'll get some 300lb paper, but not before I've used up my 140lb: moderation in all things, Alan.... we can't be throwing money away.....

Although I've managed to get the hang of stretching paper - my last few efforts having been much more successful than I ever was previously - I must say I'd like to be able just to take a piece of paper and work on it, without having to stretch it overnight (which is what this Fabriano paper needs). Although this picture is a rough old thing (I admit to enjoying painting 'em like this), the paper is actually very resilient - it takes a lot of punishment, and this style of painting is punishing.

This is good Robert.

There is no mistaking whose work this is! It's those dramatic strokes and movement that does it.

This is almost sucking me into that tree trunk, very unusual painting Robert. I see ratty is there too.

A tree full of purpose and character, nicely done Robert!

"Hey look at me " sort of tree....full of atmosphere.

Powerful and dramatic. Dismal is not a word I'd associate with this piece, Robert!

I like your vigorous brush strokes here Robert! Lots of energy in this one.

Quarter imperial watercolour, roadside tree that has been allowed to grow in a wall and is progressively demolishing it. Had cropping problems, so ignore the strip of gummed tape at the bottom! One of my dark and dismal efforts.
