Lovely light and compostion. So all round a lovely oil painting. Do you find it nicer smaller paintings with oils or going bigger?

Well, of course I've got the size wrong, haven't I? It's actually 18" by 14", which is fairly big for me - I rarely paint much bigger than this.

The colours are rich and the dead tree is painted beautifully Robert and the added wildlife and touch of red in the water bring everything together, a wonderful painting.

I like this very much, the deadwood in the foreground really leads us in the picture. Love the liveliness of the gulls, and the red buoy providing a contrast. (It's been tricky getting decent photos recently. I like to take them outside but not in the sun...it's been too murky.)

Excellent Robert, a little beauty

Well the rework that you’ve done was worthwhile! You’ve achieved better tonal contrast in all those greens and toned down the water… plus numerous other small additions. A very well executed and well balanced painting.

Really well painted Robert and your rework of it has certainly paid off.

Like the dead branch in the foreground, leading the eye in- to a very atmospheric painting.

Lovely painting Robert, keep at it ! Must get my oils out, probably next year !

Well done! The dead wood and the greens work a lot better now. The lively birds add a lot of interest. More interest and detail in the water and the light and shade in the greens is working perfectly. Well worth the rework.

Oil on board, 12 x 14" - some glare, but the best photo I've been able to take this far - took me so long to get ANY photograph of it that the trees have changed colour, then lost their leaves, in the meantime...
