A wonderful sense of recession in this painting Robert and so much to see. The downs, sheep, hikers, trees and white cliffs and that magnificent sky. Can't find a rat though!

There's a lot going on here Robert, but it certainly isn't at all fussy especially as it's quite a large painting. (just visualised the actual size on my trusty steel ruler! ) I think it's a beauty, conveying a windy day with the clouds rushing past. I found your rat, at least I hope it's a rat with a long tail ..lol

This is a lovely sweeping vista and your command of the dreaded greens is superb. Makes you want to go for a country walk.

This captures the beautiful Isle of Wight for me Robert. Well done.

This is again a beautiful hommage to the magnifique landscape of the Isle of Wight (never been there but it looks marvellous). I find nothing wrong about your greens, they are sparkling, although brighter on your Blog-posting than here on the POL. I don't know how it happens, but postings on the POL Gallery always seem less sharp and bright than on my own computer screen before posting.

Beautifully done, Robert. Love the panoramic sweep of the piece and your palette.

Yes, I found your rat too. I can just see you scampering across these fields!?! Certainly sets the scene.

Perhpas the level of definition between the fore- and middle ground adds a degree of confusion in the perspective, but the squally clouds and breakers in the background are perfectly rendered. The whole thing has a wonderful refreshing (bracing?) equinoctial feel to it - and why not, today being 23 September.

I don't find it too fussy at all Robert. The sky is beautiful and the hills lush and green. There is a nice movement within the hill sides too, they lead your eye into the valley and the viewer starts to wonder what is under the tree. I can see a red figure but cannot work out what it is and of course there is no need to know either. The distant sea looks lovely too!

I've had a go at this scene before, in mixed-media, but this is from a more distant view - it inevitably got a bit fussy; well, inevitably unless one went for a much broader approach. The WIP and finished painting are on my blog, at http://www.wightpaint.blogspot.co.uk Size is 50 by 40cm. on rough linen covered board.
