A very nice dog sketch - what’s wrong with the frame? Suits the subject.

He's lovely, what a great drawing.

Ahh a beauty, I like the frame 😍

What a nice did drawing reminds me of one of mine...

Adorable Filius and one can see his steady look and loyalty. A marvelous portrait and his owners would be very happy with this portrait,a lovely drawing of Felius!

A lovely oldie!

Good sketch, an enjoyable commission no doubt!

A lovely sketch, and I too like the frame

You have captured a gaze of longing and intelligence in his eyes. Lovely work Robert.

Great name, and a lovely drawing Robert.

Beautiful line and tonal work, and the expression is so animated and lively. An excellent piece, Robert.

That's a cracker Robert.

Many thanks for all the comments. I understand the owner was happy with it; it was commissioned by his son, as a present - a fine animal (Filius, not Barry the son - although he was and remains a nice lad ["lad" compared to me: he'll be over 40 now. Filius, and his owner, have passed away since - time just trickles through our fingers]). I could have cropped the frame out, now I come to think of it; but yes, I like it, I think it suits the drawing. He had a good life, that was the important thing.

Fabulous drawing Robert.

I found this in my files when searching through them to tidy them up, and remembered a question on the Forum about how to draw a black dog. Well, old Filius wasn't entirely black, but I had a commission to draw him and this is what I made of it: can't help the frame, it's the only image I have. As I remember (this was nearly 20 years ago) it was done with a range of Mars Lumograph pencils.
