The Dartmoor Foal

Beautiful as ever Jeannette but I think you may have made a "freudian slip" here! I think the foal is cute not foul. LOL I'll put it down to an intellectual intermission!! This is a perfect painting for a little girls room.

Oh' dear Val. I couldn't stop laughing when I read your comment. I edited the picture and still spelled it wrong typing Fole!!! I think it's a senior moment? All OK now. Not so sure about me though!

Alls well that ends well!! I think.

Congrats on the final spelling...you got there in the end! The Dartmoors are my favourites, sturdy little creatures, and this is a lovely painting of them...very typical feeding stance of the fole/foul/foal...you've got me at it now! It is exactly how they brace themselves to tug when drinking. Lovely.

Stunning Jeannette, the mare has a look of resignation on her face, nothing to do with the spelling I trust. lol

What a beautiful painting, inspires me to have a go with pastels - I've never used them before. Love the grey of the mare against the pinky sky.

lovely image Jeannette....Good use of colour...Steve.

Lovely colours and I like their furry coats!

Great little picture, bet your grandaughter loves it.

You have their character perfectly

What a lovely scene and how beautifully you have captured the moment. It certainly helped that the mother was a gray and the foal was dark as you were able to get some really effective edges. Like the misty background.

Lovely composition Jeanette, wonderful background too.

Painted this for my grandaughter last year. We drove through dartmoor on our way to Bere Alston. I saw the Mare and foal - idea taken from a photo. Pastel on velour
