Alternatives.

Brilliant! Very moving!!

There isn’t an alternative!

Thanks David and Paul, Stephen, it's my alternative view it's how I wanted to paint it but all comments are valued and welcome.

There are many interpretations and always room for another. Keep it going Denise - you always surprise me!

And why not. Very good watercolour portrait.

You may have started something here. Most Christians have a very set view of this figure. This is provocative to say the least. There are even scholars who say there isn't enough proof that this man actually existed. In that atmosphere, this image is as appropriate as anything more traditional. I, myself follow "his" teachings as they appear in the text. Even if one is agnostic, or atheist, those teachings hold up. I hope you continue on your artistic path.

I know this is an artistic site, not a theological one. But there are many artists who are believers, as I am. The whole basis of the Christian faith is that God sent ‘the son’ to pay for the sin of mankind.

Thanks very much for your comments Spencer, Linda, Andrew and Skylar. Stephen, I respect your freedom to choose what you believe and thank you for your input.

Though provoking, excellent painting.

Great painting Denise

Powerful Denise, I like alternatives and this is a great example, very thought provoking

Fabulous Denise 🥰

Thought provoking and well painted. It is art and should be judged as such. As far as some of the comments go, open minds consider all alternatives, that's what puts faith and belief on a firm foundation.

Your comments are much appreciated, thanks Stephen, Shaun, Heather, Faye, Martin and Tony.

Art can provoke different feelings, either positive or negative. In painting, the artist leaves a bit of themselves behind on the canvas or paper. I think this is brave Denise, and certainly outside the box. I like it. Well painted.

I love this- very thought provoking which I like- it’s an artists privilege to see ‘alternatives’ and challenge the known- Keep going -

Thanks very much Ellen and Rachel.

I am not ‘that’ religious although I can see the point of this painting. With it being watercolour, I take it that it was painted before starting the oil painting of the same? I am sure it will be good.

I'm working on an oil painting of something similar. Watercolour.
