Fabulous drawing- great skill Denise.

Really good Denise, great tonal values

Hi Denise, this is really good tonal work. I saw Alan’s comments about carbon pencils and also ordered some, but have to say so far am struggling with them, unlike you! I find them a bit scratchy and unpleasant so far, but maybe I just need to persevere. You obviously don’t have a problem with them.

An attractive landscape Denise, and the linear shadows help the composition… If I can make one observation, I would like to see less detail in the middle distance - the central clump of trees in particular … more a blocked in style, and perhaps on the lower portion of the tall pine tree… less is sometimes more, let the viewers eye fill in the blank areas! Too much detail can be distracting. My view as always… it’s these small details that can make or break a piece of art! Exceptional work nonetheless!

Thank you very much for your comments Stephen, Martin, Anne, Carole, Paul, Spencer, Mia, Carol, Shaun, Heather, Tessa and Alan. Tessa, I start light, blend, then build up layers. For blending I use, stumps, brushes, cotton buds, tissues and fingers. Alan, I'm doing one more detailed landscape, so I will definitely bare in mind what you have said. Thanks.

Great tonal drawing Denise.

A very accomplished drawing Dense

Your comments are much appreciated Carole, Russell, Christine and Coral.

Excellent drawing

Beautifully done Denise

A lot of time spent here Denise, but it doesn't look laboured at all - an excellent drawing!

Beautifully done, Denise, a lovely feeling of depth to the landscape.

The second time I've used the carbon pencils this week. I've been enjoying working in one colour the past few weeks. This took about 8 hours.
