Oil Sketch.

Looks good to me Denise! The sun shines through. It allows your brushstrokes to show where you wish texture and to blend at other times. I’ve never tried an oil pad so I will be interested to see how you get on.

Like it Denise, some lovely brush strokes in there .

A lovely atmospheric and dramatic piece, Denise, with a beautiful palette.

Almost abstract! I like it Denise… well done!

Good article and well executed. Well done, lovely result!

Glorious Denise in colour and composition.

Much appreciated Spencer, Paul, Seok, Alan, Linda and Chris. Chris, I used the colours suggested in the mag.

Oil paper is indeed very useful stuff: and if you do produce a good painting on it, you can always stick the paper to a board, to give it a longer life (though even just left on paper, it'll be there for decades). You've learned Alan B's lessons well - sunsets are hard to do, and are nearly always far more effective if you don't go mad with the colour. I don't often paint them, but did one for my mum - my brother rushed it to the framer's, where it received offers to buy it! But it was mum's so I couldn't sell, of course. A good sunset - or sunrise - painting (I'm not saying mine was good, but I blush, modestly) is always a good seller. I find I have to be in the right mood to paint them, but - enough about me (is this possible?) - it must do Alan's heart good to see that someone has read and understood his article as you have: a few more of these, and you'll be our Sunset Queen!

Thanks Robert.

Lovely work Denise 👏

Definitely has an abstract feel to it which I really like.

I love the atmosphere you have created in this wonderful.

A beautiful interpretation of a sunset sky, Denise.

Like this a lot! Love the colors, and the scene !

This is gorgeous- love the abstract quality of it- and the colours

Thanks Faye, Sarah, Carole, Linda, Ellen, Manoj and Rachel.

Gorgeous Denise.

I follow Alan's articles in TA. I'm following the. Capturing skies in all their moods. The second article is based on sunsets. Yesterday, I bought an oil paper pad so I could practice some oil sketches of sunsets. I've never used oil paper before but found it ideal, when trying things out without using canvas or board. I took what I had read into consideration and had a go.
