Sylvia’s flowers

Comments

I think it is fine as it is. Reflections and play of light are very effective.

Love the style you have painted this excellent still life. The light from the window reflecting on the table is superb. A lovely composition indeed.

Like it Marjorie, the light from behind the flowers is excellent and especially through the vase onto the table top. I have a south facing window and when the sun is glaring through it’s difficult to focus on things they tend to have blurred edge , this reminds me of that so much .

So beautiful 😍

I think this is wonderful Marjorie, I love the shimmering light and the out of focus effect.

It's a stunner Marjorie, beautifully painted

Great light Marjorie, you’re on a roll!

Lovely light through the window and great reflections on the table.

Love the contre jour effect!

Oh Marjorie, I totally agree with everyone, this is so beautiful,

How lovely...x

I’m liking these soft edges, it’s a very accomplished piece Marjorie.

Lovely lighting and subtle colours Marjorie. Really effective

The light is beautiful.

Love the treatment of light and soft edges Marjorie.

Love the back lit composition ,beautifully painted.

Lovely tonal study

Beautiful painting - love your use of shadows!!

Thank you so much for all your comments!😄

Not really a fan of still life but this is a very attractive image Marjorie, well done.

A fantastic painterly still life Marjorie. Oils are my favourite too although I am trying acrylics again at the moment.

Great light Marjorie! How did the demo go?

Demo….mmmm…..I was so frustrated that when I got home I immediately turned for comfort to wine and crisps! Not the fault of the person running it really but we are such a mixed group, with some never having used oils before etc etc, that it was difficult. She was showing her technique and tips and I wanted to paint how I paint. Ah well, you can’t win ‘em all. Some found it very inspiring. Thanks for commenting Pastor, Bryan, Stephen and you, Fiona.

That's beautiful Marjorie.

I like your idea of a comfort blanket Marjorie. I’d be enrolled into rehab if I were to take that option when frustrated! 😂 This new art class I go to has a similar dynamic, some new to art and some that haven’t painted for a long, long time. I’m stuck, at back to basics, but I think once they’ve built up some confidence and techniques, we can strike out in to contemporary and conceptual painting exploration. I’m missing Davy’s class so much!! ☹️

Thanks Diane😁 I’m not surprised you miss your old group Fiona, it sounded great and your exhibition was excellent.

I love the softness of this, Marjorie. Beautiful.

Ah thank you Ellen. At times I’ve tried to “harden” ( if that’s the right word) what I paint but it never ends up that way.

This has a lovely softness about it Marjorie.

I hope it is finished! I love that slightly blurry, soft effect and the light is beautiful.

Lovely painterly work,(keep on painting how you want to)

Superb Marjorie, love it.

So good, wonderful light.

Wonderful work, Marjorie. I like the light and the softness of this one.

Thank you very much Val, Hilary, Anne, Willie, Val-Irene, Maureen and Cesare. I haven’t touched it so it must be finished Hilary.😄

Lovely light and a very happy picture. It would cheer you up every time you walked past it on the wall!
