Nice portrait. I normally put the scanned image through photoshop in order to improve the brightness/contrast. You can't get a perfect result though but it helps it a bit.

Really good portrait Marjorie, you have much talent, I always try and photograph outside, I do find that I get a more accurate colour match.

The stoned comment made me laugh! Full of character, and I love the sense of energy and liveliness. It's hard to suggest roundness and I think you've done that well on her cheeks.
