I've had to comment again on clser inspection I absolutely love this one . do more like this Marjorie its great

You've produced a superb piece Marjorie. The building sits perfectly in the landscape and I love the way you've painted the light on the slate roof. You are such a versatile artist!

Marjorie this is superb. Top quality painting and very beautiful

Great Marjorie.

Marjorie I really like that subtle light on the building, brings it all together I feel.

Welcome to the unknown zone and you fit in so well with this super work, Buildings look to be no problem for you and you have the skills for the ssubject.

Nice cottage Marjorie

Your best ever Marjorie

Marjorie you wouldn't think for one moment that this kind of subject was out of your comfort zone. It just shows what an accompished all round artist you are because I think this is fabulous!

Lovely subtle colours nicely executed.

Well, big Thankyou Dennis, but I'm not convinced. It's not a subject I'm easily drawn to, I used a knife in parts. Thankyou Russell - I like doing different things, it makes things more interesting. Thanks Dennis, I found the foreground hard. Thanks too, Shaun and John - Derek, as I said on the Forum, I hate measuring perspective and tend to correct as I go along, I had to do a bit here but oils are great for this. Thankyou Peter and Fiona - you're not so bad yourself, Still Life, Life Studies , pen and wash....

Thanks a lot Michael.

excellent work Marjorie the red ground works really well

I think you have produced a really nice piece of work Marjorie, you have really captured the mood you were aiming for and I really like the muted pallet, there is a real nice sence of depth to this, I wish I could be out of my depth and produce work like this, nice one.

Thanks David, I like th effect it has behind the sky colours. Thanks Malcolm, my husband said it looked a bit Victorian , it's sort of old fashioned I suppose. I left out the telegraph pole!

Marjorie, another superb piece

This is really atmospheric, Marjorie, a lovely mix of soft colours, I especially like the warm touches in the trees and sky.

It's a lovely painting Marjorie! You have done the building ever so well and the trees are superb!

Sometimes my thankyou's haven't appeared - weird! So again, thanks Gudrun, the two Jenny's and Satu.

Beautiful painting with soft colours, Marjorie.

It's lovely, Marjorie. I love the muted light and the very lively brushwork.

Am really surprised this is out of your comfort zone, Marjorie. The building is very well painted and I love that glow from the gesso. It would be lovely if you did some more scenes like this.

Oil on red ground gesso, MDF 40cmx30cm. Another view from our art club, this time worked from a photo started yesterday pm. Have had enough, it's out of my comfort zone, I don't usually paint buildings or rural scenes. I'm glad I persevered because I feel I learned from it.
