And what a chair, it's certainly taken centre stage Marjorie! I love the limited palette and simple but very effective composition of this piece.

Now you would go to the top of my oil class Marjorie with all these wonderful neutrals!lol A very interesting painting and so well painted.

I really like the simplicity of the composition compared with the more complex use of tones Marjorie

A great use of tonal values in these neutral colours, and a nice depiction of a empty house waiting to be occupied by the welcoming chair.

And yes its a lovely chair well done Marjorie lovely painting

Van Gough painted a chair Marjorie, so why not?, I also like the neutral tones in this work and the light from the window, excellent.

I love this beautifully painted Marjorie

I absolutely love it Marjorie! Great limited palette and the emptiness of the place is somehow so moving. Beautiful work!!!

Beautifully painted and such an unusual composition that works very well!

Love the light and the soft shadows

Wonderful painting, marjorie, much effective in your semplicity, very well painted.

Thank you very much everyone, going into the neutral phase.....

Love your palette Marjorie, lovely painting

Reminds me so much of a Edward Hopper style interior , excellent work indeed Marjorie

Love the neutral look of this with that interesting chair Marjorie. Who is coming to sit there zi wonder.

Thank you Lisa, Helen, Dermot and Carole. I suppose I was thinking of Dionne Warwick's song, " A chair is still a chair, even if there's no one sitting there.."

wow I love this - love the neutral pallette and simple but evocative subject...
A drab scene made dynamic with your skills Marjorie

Super painting Marjorie, gives me an intense feeling of loneliness and sadness.

Aw no Russell, next time I'll have to post a happy one!
Thanks Angie and Derek too.

My comment was by no means detrimental Marjorie, quite the opposite in fact. It's a powerful painting.

Thanks again Russell, and Gudrun. It's been tweaked by the way.

Your work is so inspiring Marjorie and this is no exception. Such a simple subject but so so effective.

Beautifully done, Marjorie - superb composition and that sliver of light just lifts the entire piece.

Thank you Val, you're very kind. And thank you again Seok.

Ditto to everything everyone's said. You've just got to put this in for some forthcoming competition, Marjorie. Look forward to seeing your next painting as I take it your painter's block is now well and truly over!!!

Haven’t seen the gallery recently Marjorie , just popped in for a quick look . This came bounding out at me. . A delight. 😊

How on earth did you come across this Sylvia? Now resting in a pile at the bottom of a cupboard!

Superb, Marjorie

Well Thanks Thalia! This was quite a while ago.
