Autumn at Howick, Northumberland

This is absolutely gorgeous and beautifully done Marjorie, I love how you have cast the shadows and highlighted the the patches of sunlight.

Thank you very much Paul. It hasn’t photo’d very well, I think because the light is going, even tho’ I had my daylight bulb on.

I think this is excellent Marjorie. Really well painted with a lovely warm autumn glow to it.

I love the way you have built up the gorgeous autumnal palette in your trees and shrubbery Marjorie, it’s given a lovely warmth to the scene.

That is a beautiful painting and it brought back very happy memories of my visits to Howick Hall and Gardens!

Thanks Fiona and David. I’m amazed I settled down to paint this because as I was tidying up ready to start I spilled a tub of black gesso on the floor and in my cupboard. I forced myself to count to 10 and started to clear up. What a mess! My hands were black! I’ve just had to leave it to dry in most parts….l still like black gesso though….

I thought you would have been there David. Hopefully Lewis, the rain won’t finish off the autumn leaves.

This really caught my eye Marjorie. A stroll with a crisp autumn sunlight, dancing. The foliage, shimmering a hint of a sharp breeze and everything shape changing as the Sun follows its path. A very beautiful painting.
