That’s quite a challenge Marjorie, this kind of scene would terrify me but it’s something I want to try. I really like the way you have simplified what could have turned out to be a fussy townscape ….hinting at windows, chimneys and the roof line. The splendour is Nike silhouetted against the sky with what appears to be a halo of light.

It has come out really well. The monument overlooking the scene really makes it.

I thought we lost the Boer Wars. My great grandfather took part as a bombadier, whilst his wife travelled with him dropping babies in Mauritius, 2 in Cape Town and a couple more in Guernsey! Beautiful painting though. Well captured!
