Well done, Marjorie. There is a lot of depth in it with the lobster pots in the foreground.

I say Marjorie, the addition of the lobster pots is a perfect addition. Super painting. Love it.

Job done beautifully Marjorie, the lobster pot are a master stroke and lead in nicely to the new buildings. What makes it so good is that it’s not overcrowded in the foreground.

Oh yes, lobster pots… never thought of those and they were perfect! Excellent Marjorie, a steady hand for sure…

Hey, thanks Mia, Denise, Paul and Alan. This is one I’m going to admit I’m pleased with! Maybe it’s because it’s not a subject I normally paint.

Lovely composition and light Marjorie. I agree with Dixie, the lobster pots lead nicely into the rest of the painting.

Love the colours and composition.

Perfect Marjorie. Fills that awkward foreground space wonderfully.

Excellent Marjorie, it really brings home the contrast between old and new.

Such a different subject for you Marjorie but this has a great depth of meaning and contrasts beautifully the new and the old. Love those earthy colours.

Super result Marjorie, I like the mix of old and new and a little of the original ‘stuff’ you would find at the harbour.

This is superb Marjorie. What a great composition- love the lobster pots - they make your painting.

Ah - you resolved the problem of the down-at-heel wall - works really well now; actually, I quite liked your earlier version of it, it suited my somewhat bleak outlook! But this is better aesthetically - more balanced, more interesting. Some very delicate work in there too, with the lines of rigging: I'm getting shaky hand syndrome, so am envious.

Thank you all for following my train of thought and commenting. The colours, light and shadow were great that day, I sketched it out, took photos and finally “embarked” on it. Maybe something completely different next ( when I’m not trampling paint around the house!).

Fabulous, lots of tricky angles and perspectives and I like the use of colour too

I love it, Marjorie. The lobster pots really add to the industrial scene. Fabulous.

I like the juxtaposition of the old against the new, a super representation.

Many thanks Heather, Ellen and Brian - Brian, your “Juxtaposition” is a very similar theme.

A nice take on Amble, Marjorie, turning your back on the sea but including the creels. Clever contrast of time and function.

Thanks Willie. By the way, got to Shipley and saw your excellent paintings of Amble. It was a pity the exhibition wasn’t in the side room, as usual the light in the main gallery is not good.

Some very clever perspective there Marjorie

Lovely colours and composition

So confidently painted. Super work Marjorie!

Thank you Carole, Romila and Louise!🙂

9”x7.5” oil on gesso’d card. An ongoing development of new Nordic style buildings in Amble, Northumberland, is contrasted with the old rundown buildings near the working harbour.
