Thank you Lionel for sharing your good news on many fronts. It's good to know that things can work out well. In addition to all this, this painting is really good on my opinion. I like the muted colours and the atmosphere the paint effect gives. It's quite eerie which is not a bad thing.

Lionel...I'm so happy for you!! Congratulations on all your news and thank you for sharing it with us, I hope this sees a turning point in your life and your health and happiness goes from strength to strength. I have never felt particularly singled out for your criticism Lionel, that's the reason I post on the site......for criticism, so please don't worry about that.
So after your trip to Spain, I imagine you will be coming over the border for a visit to Edinburgh?!
And as for your painting; I think it's a smasher! A super semi abstract, excellent figures (I'm jealous) love the red, really catches the eye. The horizontal flashes of white balance up the verticals........lovely. And I hope that your paints will NOT be going back in the garage........my very warmest wishes to yourself and Mary.....how's the back? XX

What is special about this website is that although most of us don't know each other personally we establish friendship and respect for each other. Lovely to hear your good news and also to see this really well executed painting.

Thank you Gudrun, Fiona and Christine for your very kind comments. I agree, Gudrun, it does look a bit eerie! Perhaps that is why I described it as I did above - a collection of individuals - no contact between them - post-apocalyptic?! Fiona; thank you so much for your remarks and best wishes. Mary's back is better, we are pleased to say. Glad you like the picture. I'll try to prepare a better composition next time instead of just diving in with the knife. And Christine, you are so right - mutual respect brought about through our artwork and exchange of comments; great isn't it? Thank you so much for your comments which are appreciated.

Hello Lionel - good to see you on the gallery - it's been a while, hasn't it? Also very glad to hear all the positive things that are happening in your life - may that trend continue for you. What happens in your personal life has a direct effect on producing art (I know from experience!) so I feel it is good to know what an artist is experiencing as it helps the viewer to see shades of the emotions in the art they are looking at. Looking at this painting, I feel it is significant that the dominant colour is a sunny yellow with slashes of light pouring down on the people. The people look purposeful as if they know where they are going - as it sound that you do, too. Having heard your resume of your recent life, I can see that this painting has a very positive feel to it. On a technical front, I think the painting is very well composed, has impact and tells a story (where are the people going?). I like your use of colour and the suggestion of buildings. Great stuff!

Thank you so much, Thea, for your in-depth analysis which I found to be not only accurate but fascinating. I also found it to be revealing, telling me things about myself that I perhaps had not acknowledged. Thank you again!

Lionel I am so very pleased for you, everything falling into place! Well done. Like Christine says, we get to know each other and are genuinely pleased for any good news shared between us. I like this positive looking painting it radiates confidence, colours perfect. X

Thank you Carole for your encouraging comments. Lovely to hear from you. x

A stunning piece, Lionel. Love the textures, the palette and the atmospheric feel of the piece. It's great that you have all this good news to share. Really glad for you!

Hi Seok! Thank you so much for your encouraging comments and for taking the time to stop by! Much appreciated - as always.

Not so much a crowd as merely a collection of individuals. Several of you, particularly Fiona P., have suffered my pompous criticism and various complaints over the years with good grace but I now I have some good news. Cancer monitoring last week and all OK. After trying to sell my apartment in Spain for the last three or four years, (on and off), I decided I would do it my way. I first learned how to build a website and after that adertised the flat and the site in local papers. Bingo! Buyer for the flat in four weeks! But best of all, my wife and I have re-established contact with our eldest son after more years than I care to think about. He is alive and well and living in Edinburgh with his partner.......named Fiona!! That's my news, (hope no one objects), and now back to the paints. I'm going to have another crack at those figures before we fly off to Spain to complete the sale.
