I think it's lovely Lionel, with lovely calming colours

Yeah!!!! I think you can draw a line under this one Lionel ....as finished! The foreground detail has made such a difference, I like it!!!

Ah, finished off nicely. well done for carrying it through. That area of grass in the first posting was just begging for some darker colour and the grasses work well. You've also added some shadow which looks good. All these additions have added life to the painting.

Very pastoral and calming. I don't think you overdid the pen at all and I think there is a nice balance between it and the washes. There are lots of areas of small details which draws your eye around the painting and allows the viewer to appreciate all the different parts of the scene.

What lovely comments! Thank you all so very much. You have made me feel much better about this.

Nothing wrong with this at all, but if you wanted to take it a bit further, or change it a touch, you could vary those lines of detail a bit, so that instead of standing one after another they varied diagonally, for instance. Lovely sky, an effective overall tone. Don't worry about pen-work - you can add much more than this, with, say, sepia ink - add directional lines, get quite bold with it: the great thing about a sepia is that you can apply watercolour on top and it will just blend in, whereas black ink will tend to stand out more harshly.

I think it's delightful, Lionel! It has so much atmosphere and I love the way you rendered the trees.

I really was not going to post this but changed my mind at the last moment. I have tried to apply the advice I received by adding some foreground interest because, as most commentators said, it looked unfinished. Got carried away with the pen, I'm afraid. I'm now moving on!
