My grandad always said to me "Never ever Offer information" so I would say Alan let the viewers decide and I have decided it works well, maybe 3 birds on the right flying into the painting to balance .

It is a nice piece, despite your reservations. The sky is beautifully done and the tree and barn move the eye around.

OK, Alan (Owen); I have taken you at your word, paint what's around you. So here is a view from my study. The composition leaves a lot to be desired in that there is not enough space between the rickety barn and the tree, so all the important elements are over to the left. Also, the sky is too big and hence not enough regression, (if that's the word I want).This particular photo also shows up some dodgy painting in the foliage. I'll try another photo later...and I will try to get back to the original painting technique. Nonetheless, I quite like it.
