Excellent drawings Lew, high quality as usual.

I'm seeing Sam Spade, Hank Janson, Dick Tracy and the rest. Fine work Lew.

Excellent lighting on a superb piece of work.

Great faces Lewis

Great characterisation Lew, could that be modelled on "Big Bob Mitchum" love all these old black and white movies when you could at least hear the dialogue!! good use of mixed media.

Thanks for your feedback everybody. Yes Linda, he IS based on Bob Mitchum...I thought I'd changed him a lot...clearly not enough.

Long look Lewis. I think his gun would be better pointing towards his tie. Looks a bit awkward in that position.

Agree with Linda, great characters evocative of the black and whites era.

The black and white of film noir is brilliant Lewis. So skilfully drawn.

Very redolent of the period - I thought Raymond Chandler as I saw the thumbnail.

Oh this is just great Lewis!

Great work Lewis - Just proves you don’t need official art training to be able to draw this well!

Thanks again to all who've taken the trouble to comment. It's much appreciated.

Yup! That's Mitchum all right. A hat's not a hat until it's tilted! Just like the 'comics' I used to read. Although I don't admit to knowing who Hank Jansen was! :) Nice work Lewis. John

Another go at the 'noir' style (from the old black and white movies). This is supposed to show the moment when the Private-Eye hears a gun cocked behind him. 16 x 12 inches. Pen, watercolour, coloured pencil, and a little gouache...so, mixed media.

Self taught. Love drawing. Like to make pictures up, without using reference pics, often in cartoon style. I do other pictures where I do use reference. I'm knocking on a bit, born in 1940 in Greenwich, London. Retired, and loving it.
