Lew you are so versatile! The figurine looks so intricate. You made films? Is that you in the pic? Fabulous work 😁

As Carole has spoken, so “versatile” and Lewis a character himself. Wonderful, super painted clay I see, and animation.

Brilliant. Wonderful hobby. Looks professional to me.

It’s not me in the pic. I sometimes made caricature figurines…this chap sent me this photo with his. His wife commissioned it as a surprise, if I remember correctly. The figurines were fun to make, I sold some at craft fares…to become a viable business, I would have needed to mass produce them. Didn’t do it. No fun in that. Back in the 70/80s amateur films were fairly big…several magazines…lots of regional film festivals. Because I made cartoon films I got invited to many, and some in Europe and America too. Mostly made with super 8 cameras. A few drawn, by mainly with plasticine characters. Great days. We had a lot of fun. I expect many of you had super 8 film cameras. Seems a long time ago now. .

The hidden talents of Mr Cooper, Lew for some reason I’m not surprised that you practiced other art forms and looks like you were successful as well. Thanks for sharing this little incite to you film and model making past it’s interesting to hear about it .

Multi talented Lewis, who knew, and thanks for posting

Fascinating - and I'm sure the little films are highly entertaining.

Very interesting and talented history Lewis.

Wow Lewis what a talent you are.

Amazing Lewis! You are such an interesting and talented man with not a scintilla of conceit or ego.

What a talent! I love the clay figure.

That is so interesting, Lew - a credit to your versatility!!!

Amazing Lewis. What a talented person you are!

Multi talented Mr. Cooper, oh to have a smidgen of your talent. Well done Lewis.

Thanks for all your very generous comments. If you’ve never tried making things with clay, I’m sure you’d like it. I found these old pics whilst having a sort out and wasn’t sure to post them.

Super, multi-talented Lewis! Excellent.

Speechless Lewis. Think everything has already been said. I am in awe of your mastery.

How wonderful you clever chap! I also had a Super 8 camera, the height of technology at that time!! Grey fun.

Sorting through stuff I came across these pics. Not paintings or drawings, but art-related. Don't think I've shown these pics before. Sorry if I have. The figurines were made from air-drying clay (DAS), and painted with enamel paints. Films were made for fun, first with super 8 film, then later with digital. Great days.

About the Artist
Lewis Cooper

Self taught. Love drawing. Like to make pictures up, without using reference pics, often in cartoon style. I do other pictures where I do use reference. I'm knocking on a bit, born in 1940 in Greenwich, London. Retired, and loving it.
