The old gurner

AN EXPLANATION...I did the background compilation of pictures in photoshop, it was for another idea completely that wasn't working and I'll have to re-think...it will probably take several pictures to make sense of it. So I decided to do this instead for now. Background compiled from my drawings in photoshop, with a mixed media drawing plonked on top. Apologies to all poets for my rhyme.

My God, Lewis. No words... Every part of it is an ARTWORK! Congratulations!!

Oh to live in your head Lew, or maybe not. My sympathies to Mrs C! Seriously, thanks for the morning smile, POL wouldn’t be the same without you. 🤭

Complicated but superb.

😂😂you just made my day Lewis! That is amazing!

Everyone else has said it before me so all I can add is to say Wonderful!

Fabulous Lew, the gurner strikes again! I seem to remember there was a competition where they they won prizes for the most grotesque face peering through a toilet seat 😂

Great sketches, and love the rhyme!

Thanks Lew for my morning grin..

Love it Lewis.

I was trying to think of a rhyme in reply but inspiration won't come! Wonderful again Lew.

For a change I’m lost for words Lew , superb as always.

There was an old fellow called Lew, Who shared everything that he drew, Each one a delight, All the details just right, There's only one probelm - too few!

That is brilliant , Lewis! Love the words with the drawing- I often wondered how our politicians are selected and now I know!!

Wonderful Lewis, I don’t know how you think these up! My mother was good at gurning when she took her false teeth out 😀

All the best gurners took out their teeth….. There once was a gurner from Leith Who said it was best without teeth…… ( Anyone like to finish it?)

Thanks very much for your comments. Always valued. Great rhyme Peter. I'm always loathe to post my own rhymes, both here on on the forum there's always someone who comes up with something better. That's why I won't be completing your rhyme Marjorie.

There was an old gurner called Lew, Who gurned through the seat of a loo, I am not in a rush, So please do not flush, I'd rather you made me a brew..

You've just proved my last point Tony. Brilliant.

Marvelous Lew , you have just made my day 😉

Brilliant Lewis! Were would be without these to give us a smile

Brilliant Lewis, I think you may have just started something poetic going here.

What a great compilation, brilliant.

Great fun - great work, Lewis and thanks for this morning's chuckle!

Brilliant Lewis, and what great idea to have your work as a backdrop. I love the subtle details you always include in your work, such as the shadow that's been cast by the 'old gurner.'

This is excellent Lewis, rhyme and all. What a great compilation behind him- that’s not a self portrait is it?

All I can say Lewis is Nobody does it better!!

Thanks again to everybody for your great response. Yes Christine, it's a caricature of me. Obviously much exaggerated.

From past experience I always look at you postings whilst not eating or drinking, glad I wasn’t doing either in this instance. Great work and imagination.

Keep ‘em coming Lew! Always a delight!

Love the rhyme, Lewis, and the painting. Smashing work.

Aw, c’mon Lewis….you can do it!😁

Lol its quite cool though and clever. Love the way you have done the shadow of his hand against your cool background 😎

Amazing work Lewis

Self taught. Love drawing. Like to make pictures up, without using reference pics, often in cartoon style. I do other pictures where I do use reference. I'm knocking on a bit, born in 1940 in Greenwich, London. Retired, and loving it.
