In the dead forest. A3 Blue Sketchbook.

Great scene, fabulous figure and I do like the blue background. It’s becoming difficult to find new way of saying how good your work is Lew. Your skill with a drawing implement, I say that as it covers everything is brilliant. You certainly prove what you have often said, that drawing is the base of good art, maybe not in those word, but true non the less.

Agree with all of Paul’s comments, Lewis! Brilliant sketch, and love the addition of blue to the monochrome drawing.

Scary one Lewis, great tree work too

Wonderful illustration Lew.

Like the combinations of colour.

I love this illustration Lewis, brilliant detail and i do like the deeper shade of blue on those distant trees!!

Thank you everybody for your feedback. I wasn't sure about the brighter blue background, it's wrong really, but I'm starting to like it.

Sometimes what we think is wrong look fine Lew, and it is fantasy after all where most thing count.

Fantastic Lewis.

Love this Lewis. Does she have a name? Really like the distant blue trees. Such great detail on the trees and the witch.

Brilliant as ever Lew. You're a class act.

I think Dixie speaks for us all Lewis, we're exhausting our bank of superlatives! I've said it before but it's the detail in your work that I love to look closely at - that wonderful wizened face, the necklace, the gnarled walking stick, the weather beaten trees - all exquisitely drawn.

Thanks to all for your very generous comments.

The others have said it all! I think I will have to go back to the drawing board.

Scary lady and agree about the blue. Excellent.

I like the middle ground blue lewis, it gives a feeling of a colder deeper place where heaven knows what lurks. She’s a beauty too, that smile....a knockout.

Love the blue and agree with all the other comments Lewis.

Like the pop of blue in the background and as has been said by others the detail you achieve in your drawings is superb, from the expression of her face and gnarled hands to the little detail of her necklace.

Your illustrations are all so good Lewis!

I missed this - it's absolutely brilliant !!

Thanks again to all for your response. Odd thing art, I was unsure whether to post this because the background was bluer than I'd intended.

I should comment on your works more than I do. I just assume you will be excellent. I love your work.

I posted a witch picture the other day...now another has come along. A bit like buses. This is done with coloured pencils. I thought having the background a different blue might make it more interesting, I didn't want it pale to suggest distance but I've overdone it. Just playing around.
