A great deal of meaning in those dark eyes. Excellent.

Another fabulous drawing Lewis. Just great 😏 are watercolour pencils nice to work with?

Thank you Stephen and Faye. I like watercolour pencils Faye. This is Faber-Castell Dark Indigo. I draw the figure, then use a brush with clean water to blend it...very like watercolour. Did all the pic like this. Cordelia was left like this, I wanted her more in the back ground and softer. Then I used the pencil dry to make Lear more defined. Try them, you might like them. Jackson's sell individual pencils, so you don't have to buy a whole box...that's where I get mine.

Definitely a King Lear and love your precis!

Superb artwork Lew, I think a lot of Shakespeare’s characters were on the verge of madness, or out and out insane . I like your version as it leaves the story open to how it developed and did anyone escape.

Great drawing Lewis. I have never seen The play in question, so your wonderful synopsis saves me the bother. Thank you. To continue answering Faye’s question, Derwent and other manufacturers often have introductory offers, so you can get them on the cheap.

Wonderful work Lewis, King Lear is superbly drawn as always, so full of character, love the detail in the hand and the pommel especially.

A great drawing lewis

Great, as ever, Lew. My daughter bought me a box of Lakeland watercolour pencils for my birthday but I've only used them once as yet. I'll give them another go.

Excellent artwork Lewis, I've tried watercolour pencils and can't get to grips with them. You are very skillful with them.

Ahh great I see that's good. Emm I may into that.Thank you Lewis and Linda. Keep your pics coming Lewis 😁

Great drawing Lewis. I really like the colour you’ve used. An excellent King Lear- takes me back to A level English.

Thanks again to everybody for your interest and great comments.

As always Lewis, great characterization and history.

Great expressions Lew and I love the drama! 😳

Great drawing. Ashamed to say I've never read any Shakespeare plays so if you could do something similar with summaries for each.......🙂

So well drawn Lewis. Your characters are always excellent!

and yet another eye catcher - the main figure caught my eye as being 3 dimensional. You are certainly getting full worth from those watercolour pencils. I believe that you have used the Inktense pencils as well ?? - have you tried the Inktense paint blocks also ??.

Thanks again to all for having a look, and taking the trouble to comment. Mike, I have used Inktense. I like them very much, but find their points break easier than the Faber pencils. (Others haven't found that so.) I haven't tried the paint blocks. There are so many interesting mediums out there, and I only have so much time to use them. At the moment a mix of ink, coloured pencil and watercolour has become my most used medium.

I posted a Shakespeare pic with scenes from his plays in the background. I thought the weakest was King Lear. Thought I'd have another stab at it. Water-soluble coloured pencil. (Dark Indigo). Apologies to Shakespeare lovers for my summary of the plot.
