The posts a re like soldiers on guard. Really like this painting, a deviation from your very humorous figures.

Love this painting Lewis. The posts are like soldiers on guard. A deviation from your beautiful, humorous figures.d

Very nice Lewis... from the thumbnail I thought they were asparagus which might be an interesting idea... I like the patches of stripped bark and that we can see the grain in the wood below.

I love it, the colours are so vibrant and you have great perspective in there 😃

Thanks for your comments. David...a few years supply of asparagus there. Linda...I've just bought some new White Knights watercolours, this was my first tryout. I like them very much, previously I used Cotman...they were very good, but I think the new set has the edge. The brighter the colour the better for me...not too interested in realistic colour...vivid's the thing!

Some rather interesting and quite vibrant colours going on here Lew, which works well. These simple subjects that we pass by without a second glance can often form the basis for a painting as in this case. Your illustrative skills are still evident in your landscapes - nice piece.

I agree with the bright colour choice Lewis, I love them too! What an interesting viewpoint, it makes the painting more noticeable. It certainly stands out in the gallery, I spotted it straight away, it's just that my internet connection is so rubbish lately, I comment then it doesn't post it then I give up. Love this piece!

No end to your talents Lewis, super landscape.

I like colour as well Lew. The drawing as usual is excellent. I especially like the pebbles and wet sand in the foreground .

How unusual, yet beautiful in their own right. A lovely painting, Lewis.

Wow now this is a change . I think the seascape is wonderful and those tree trunks are some feature to protect the pathway. I can see why the scene attracted you to paint it.

Lovely colours these and I like the texture on the sand as well as on the posts. The style is unmistakeably you Lewis.

Totally different, yet totally Lewis. Great illustration work.

What a great painting Lewis!

Agree with a previous comment, Lewis, they look just like soldiers on guard! You've got some lovely vibrant colours in this. Love it.

From a photo I took on holiday a couple of years back. It was the tree-size posts that fascinated me. Almost covered in algae and sealife, they looked like works of art. They were there to protect a path leading down from the clifftop. So this picture is more of a painting of the posts than a landscape. 16x12. Watercolour plus a little pen, and gouache.
