All no longer politically correct these days Lewis. Wonderful characterisation as usual.

That's the way to do it Lewis (-:

I too am interested in the history of cartoons a fascinating subject and this is a marvelous piece

Brilliant as always Lewis.

Another cracker and love the bit of history as well.

Jim Morris, I was going to say That's the way to do it, you beat me to it lol.

Wonderful expressions as always Lewis.

Nice work Lewis, I’ve never seen a Punch and Judy show, looks like some dodgy characters in the cast.

Those brilliant expressions again :)

Thanks for your comments everybody. Fiona...I suspect many people haven't seen an authentic Punch and Judy show. They were everywhere when I was a nipper. Definitely not for today, they were like little horror shows. Any that do remain, have been watered down and made child friendly...a bit like the old fairy stories.

It's a shame that these old characters have fallen to Political correctness. How many children didn't love a Punch and Judy Show? It was all INNOCENT FUN.

Great. Punch. If you can find the recipe for Smoking Bisphop you will not be disappointed. I am not one for punch or warm mulled things, bit this is heavenly, no pun intended.

Punch was a cartoon long before the modern use of that word was coined. ('Cartoon' means something different in 'fine art', I'm not referring to that.) Fittingly, one of the earliest usages of the word in the modern sense was in PUNCH magazine in 1843 - used to describe a series of 'comic/satirical' drawings. As I'm interested in the history of 'cartoons', I'm a fan of the horrendous Mr Punch.

Self taught. Love drawing. Like to make pictures up, without using reference pics, often in cartoon style. I do other pictures where I do use reference. I'm knocking on a bit, born in 1940 in Greenwich, London. Retired, and loving it.
