I have exactly the same problem with images. Some are easy to copy but others stubbornly refuse to reproduce anything near the original. I think you know from my previous comment how much I admire this painting and the re-posted one is even better.

I'm glad you like him. I still don't get anything like the same immediacy from the photo as I do from the original, but perhaps I'm coming to the conclusion that it's essentially a deeply conventional and ultimately rather frivolous and uninteresting piece of painting.

Apologies to Thea, Robert, Seok, Debs and Philip for having lost your kind comments in the process of re-posting this. Having seen it on-screen I realised how little it resembled the original. This one is more faithful in terms of hue and contrast (even though some pigments obstinately refuse to surface digitally!).
