Sibelius by Kim Sommerschield
Sibelius seldom smiled. He could hardly be accused of being cuddly - craggy-monumental was more his thing. Like his music, of which I'm passionately fond. He was man of principle too: after composing his 7th Symphony and "Tapiola" in 1924 and 1926 respectively, he felt that his artistic vein had dried up and wrote no more. For the last 31 years of his life. For some absurd reason it gives me pleasure to think that I was alive while he still walked the earth - we overlap by just a year... This is how I see him (whilst listening to his 4th Symphony!). W&N on Fabriano Artistico, 30x40 cm.
