Oil on canvas panel, 30 x 20 cm. Depicts the Oxen (Ochsen), the main peak ca 2180 m, with the Louigrat in front (easy route of ascent), the Burglen to the left (steep white pyramid) and at the left edge of the painting, the Gantrisch ca 2200 m. The view looks S.E. this part of the Bernese Pre-Alps overlooks Thun and the lake behind the far hills. I painted this on-site but finished it from memory in the studio. Palette contained : ultr. and manganese blues, y.ochre, cd.y,light, blu-black, orange, b.umber and white. greens were mixed.
