And why not when they are this good!!

The great Rowland Hilder once said. ‘Paint a sky a day’ - and it’s great advice that I try and do… lovely spontaneous oil sketch John!

Martin, you’re a gent! 😎

Thank you both Martins - I meant! Alan, in all honesty- I love Rowland Hilder and his big skies! Maybe announcing I’d stop is a little premature… plus it is very cathartic 😎😊😜

Like the bold expressive colours.

Glad you tuned in and with a goodie!

Ah, never stop painting skies. Constable said "paint a sky a day", and you don't get more authoritative than that.

I could look at this for ages, just beautiful - quite minimal but “ juicy”.

Fabulous, I really like this. The colours are marvellous

Your skies are wonderful!

Stephen and Heather - you’re kind comments are most welcome 😎

Robert! I tend to agree! A Sky a day can only bring happiness 😊

Marjorie, Hilary and Hilary! I’m obliged to you for such generosity 🙏🏼😊

Aye, never stop painting fine work like this John. Bold and confident shines through. Lovely.

When I've been out painting en plein air, it's been a struggle to find a decent sky this summer. This one of yours is fabulous.

Definitely a super sky, both in the style it’s painted and the colours used. I know what Bobbie means , the sky here today is a whiter shade of pale!

Indeed, why stop! They're lovely! Not only Rowland Hilder, as Alan said, but also Edward Seago and Constable and innumerable others painted wonderful skies every day!

It's still a great sky!

Please don’t stop doing skies John! They are always magnificent…..mind you, everything you do is magnificent 👏

beautiful image John, keep them going. clouds are never ever the same twice.

Gorgeous, please keep painting/posting them!

Jim, truth be told - I couldn't stop if I tried ;) Bobbie, you're very kind, I know what you mean about the skies being a challenge - they can move and change so quickly. Tessa, When I look at the colours on my palette it often surprises me to see how they evolve on the canvas :)

Thalia, aaaaaah now Edward Seago is probably in my top three favourite painters! Willie, I'm delighted you like it :) Fiona, thanks so much... I have a feeling I will be doing one or two more skies ;)

John, thank you and that's a great reason to keep painting them. Rachel, I've a feeling you haven't seen the last of my sky paintings :)

Gorgeous, love the spontaneity and boldness, wow!

Spencer and Romila, you both used the word ‘bold’ and that’s such a great compliment 🙏🏼🙏🏼

Having just done a series of five 30x30 big sky-small land paintings, I hinted that was it. I’m such a fraud because I don’t seem to have it out of my system! Strictly speaking this is a 20x20cm so perhaps I can be forgiven. I’m in southern England at the moment using different equipment so I wanted to ‘tune in’ with this little study. My best wishes to this lovely Painters Online community- for never failing to make me smile 😊
