Thanks for your comments. When we visited Portsmouth, it was in the first week of August, very sunny and hot; so, whilst I was facing the sun and the ship was in shadow, I am glad that the sun had created those sparkles to liven the scene.

I painted this on the evening of Thursday 8th September, shortly after hearing the news read by Huw Edwards of the passing of Her Majesty. The scene is a view I saw during a harbour tour of the historic dockyard at Portsmouth in early August.
