Platinum Party at the Palace 1to1
Comments

Super painting of a super event, what a great seat you had!

Absolutely brilliant Tim. Your painting is full of detail and a great use of colour. How wonderful to have been there on such an auspicious occasion.

Thank you. Yes, we were very lucky with the seats and the weather. We also had a good view across to the Royal Box and in the next section of grandstand to us, we spotted Kirsty Allsopp with her trademark sunglasses, scarf and dress. As my daughter Niamh wants to study art & fashion at Uni, she absolutely loved the event, especially the 'Musicals' section, costumes etc.

Niamh is a talented young lady https://www.painters-online.co.uk/tips-techniques/inspiration/articles/lockdown-project-12-year-old-niamh-completes-her-first-commission/ Great work Tim - entry for our Jubilee painting competition perhaps?

Thanks for the tip-off about your Jubilee competition as I had missed that advert.

Still in a jubilant mood after my daughter Niamh was invited to the Platinum Party at the Palace last Saturday by her St John Ambulance Cadet unit and I was her Plus-One. Fired with inspiration I have been working on this oil painting, based on the view from our seats in the grandstand, of the phenomenal conclusion as the light show transformed Buckingham Palace. If you are visiting the 2022 Patchings Festival, let me know and I will look out for you as I have a stand in the 'Painting Marquee'.
