February forum challenge

Comments

This is really good Jenny. I’ve never had much luck with cling film but I can see how it suits the challenge.

This is great jenny, good idea. I was thinking about breaking a snowflake down into shapes....or something similar. I’ve just used cling film on a painting of a red cabbage, it works well to create the creases in the leaves.

I was looking at this on the forum and it looks great.

Thank you Katy, Fiona, John and Denise! I will also definitely try something new - it’s an interesting challenge, lots of ideas. (I think this worked quite well because the Claybord is smooth and not very absorbent, so the ink settled into fairly sharp patterns. I love experimenting with acrylic ink and cling film.)

A great start to the February challenge Jenny, might give this a go with the Brusho.

Task achieved - like this a lot!

Many thanks Paul, Linda and Heather!

Love this effect Jenny. How do you find claybord?

Thanks Carole and Louise! I bought Claybord thinking I could use it for watercolour, but it’s like painting on Yupo paper. I realised I should have got Aquabord for watercolour - I’ve bought some, but not tried it yet. The Claybord is great for acrylic inks and you can scratch or sand back the surface to erase any areas you don’t like. I added lots of layers of green to this, still using cling film, and turned it into a forest scene. Keep meaning to try some more, I bought several of the boards.

Intriguing! Not tried this though vaguely aware of the process. Perhaps one for the future?

Thanks, Frank - yes, definitely worth a go - it’s fun to try different things!

Fantastic frosty textures Jenny. Learnt something new, clayboard added to shopping list :-)

Thanks, Anjana, and also for the info. in your latest post on DS Lunar Blue - one for my shopping list! I love the DS range, most of my watercolours are now DS. My favourite blue is Mayan Blue Genuine.

Create an abstract painting with patterns of ice or snow. Did this some time ago when I was trying out Claybord using cling film and acrylic ink. Think it fits the challenge, but will also have a go at something new.
