I liked it then and I like it now!

This is so lovely, Jenny.

This is lovely, Jenny - I hope you're happy with it now...

Still lovely

It excellent Jenny, I really like this style of painting.

Too cute. Lovely work 🙂🎨

I really admire your work, another excellent example. Gesso? Is this on paper or board?

Thank you so much for the lovely comments, they are really appreciated! I’m actually getting a bit disillusioned with my own work at the moment, so it’s helpful to get positive feedback. I guess we all at times wish we had a different style, but it’s hard to change, so I expect I’ll work through it. Lewis, this is gesso on my usual watercolour paper, it’s a useful way of recycling failed paintings.

Really very good colours and your own individual style.

Lovely design and shapes Jenny.

This is really lovely Jenny. You put so many small details in your work. The colours work so well. In some ways it like a delicate silk painting.

It’s a lovely piece of work Jenny… nobody told me painting was supposed to be relaxing!

Many thanks, Richard, Carole, Spencer and Alan, I do really appreciate your comments. Alan, you’re right, painting isn’t the relaxing occupation people (who don’t paint) think it is - I should probably have said less stressful, rather than more relaxing!

It's beautiful Jenny

Yes! This is much more satisfactory Jenny. It has the wholeness of composition that seemed somehow missing in the previous version. Like the egret. Just been watching a heron eyeing our pond with evil intent so it rings a bell!

Many thanks Rikke and Frank! (Frank, pleased you think this is an improvement - I was probably a bit hasty in posting the last one. We got fed up with herons visiting our pond so covered it with a net and don’t see them now. They’re impressive birds, though, up close, unlike the delicate Little Egrets I regularly see on my river walks.)

On reflection, I wasn’t happy with a lot of my previous post, so gessoed over it and reworked it. Quite different using watercolour on gesso, but it has the advantage that you can easily change things by adding more gesso and repainting, a more relaxing way to paint!
