‘The Fool on the Hill’ is a song credited to Lennon and McCartney and recorded in 1967. The song possibly relates to the Beatles meditation teacher, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. According to McCartney their Yogi had an infectious giggle and because of that he wasn’t always taken seriously and sometimes seen as a fool. McCartney wanted to show that people sometimes call even the wisest men fools.

Great work Spencer - I like the original treatment.👍👍

Another good one, Spencer!!

This is a cracker Spencer, great design and colours.

What a striking image Spencer. Very interesting concerning how the song title came about.

I like the boldness of this, well done.

Wonderful Spencer.

Yes a cracker indeed. Great style. One of your best in my opinion.

I'd like to see the pre-digitized piece, too.

Super work Spencer

This is impressive Spencer, the colours are great and I love the graphic quality to it. I would also like to see what it looked like pre-Pastello.

Really good Spencer !

Thank you all so much for your great comments. I will put the original painting on so you can see the difference.

Excellent picture.

A very striking image and interesting effect - really good work, Spencer!

I'm looking at this digitised version after seeing your initial painting. I like both - this is very striking - but if I was forced to choose, I prefer the softness in the painting.

Thank you so much Stephen, Heather, Anne and Bobbie. I do appreciate your kind words.

That's so well drawn Spencer. It has a slightly Vincent feel to it. It's not the kind of image I imagine when listening to the song but I fully understand your meaning behind the noble looking very intelligent looking face. It is almost the norm that the wisest people are dismissed because their vision is so next level they can appear very dim. Their incomprehensible minds are just too much . Human perception is limited at best. To them he is the fool. To him they are the fools. Yet that somehow draws a common thread between them with somehow makes the wise more foolish, if you get my meaning.

I get your meaning totally Michael. I wanted to show him as an ordinary looking person, not of any specific ethnicity ( though the Beatles based the song on their Indian guru). You can’t always tell if a person is wise or foolish as sometimes you only know after the event and what occurs. Thank you so much for your comment. Much appreciated.

I think I have seen most of your work? Love the idea, interpretation and quality. Great work.

Thank you so much for your kind comment Peter. Much appreciated.

Continuing my Beatles theme is this piece created in watercolour and acrylic and then digitised using ‘Pastello’.
