A superb little sketch Fiona, it really is, love the fir trees and the strength and shadows of that large rock, excellent.

Lovely pen and wash. You have captured the scene beautifully.and lovely colours too.

Another great little pen and wash Fiona. I like the texture of the paper, what is it?

Agree and those colours are unique Fiona. You can have a little rest now

Your pen marks are getting bolder, Fiona and that is exactly what this kind of painting needs. The long grasses bend in different directions and look very convincing. The stone is very very expertly drawn and painted too.

Thank you very much Alan, glad you like it.
Syd, thank you, very kind.
Many thanks Marjorie. It's Okra paper, made up into a sketch book by 'The Diary Shop' I love it but it can be a pain to work on some times and takes ages to dry. It has a lovely tooth and finish once it's dry, and it is a creamy colour.
Thank you Dennis, I did have a little rest after doing this...along with tea and a scone!lol

Great sketch, Fiona, the rocks are very well done, and the soft colours are amiable.

Lovely Fiona as is all your paintings

Satu, I wasn't sure how to tackle the grass to be honest because it's all mainly moor and very rough, scruffy grass. I thought 'mess' and it sort of worked, glad you think so. Thank you.

Fiona, really like this, especially the finer lines of the rock and foreground grasses against the softer tree shapes. Colours are lovely and the texture of the paper adds interest.

Beautiful Fiona! I bet Robert the Bruce wished that those rocks were a comfy chair!

Really nice sketch, strong lines just like the 'BRUCE' himself. Came across one of these whilst walking between New Galloway and Newton Stewart, apparently he had lots of stones around.

Ah not Bruce Forsyth then! The Rock is suitably strong and rugged, contrasting with the almost dessert like terrain, the papers texture does suit this scene, nicely done.

Well he must have been exhausted after all those battles Fiona! Great pen and wash, you are a wizard at these now.

Lovely, fresh sketching Fion.a and crisp light washes. A superb little winter scene.

Cesare, Dennis and Jenny thank you very much!

Sarah, Helen, Andre..yes there are one or two around here, one at Glen Trool as well. Stephen lol. no not Brucie, Carole and Chandra...thank you all very much indeed.

Thanks Gudrun!!

Super sketch Fiona. Love the colours.

Lovely sketching skills Fiona

Wow, that really has impact Fiona, superb washes and palette and, yet again, beautiful lively pen work.

Thanks ever so much Peter, Derek and Val really appreciate you taking the time to comment.

Thanks very much Glennis!

Ha , Ha , nice way of saying he was a lazy dog :) , this is my favourite one yet beautiful washes and superbly free and easy pen work

This really stood out on the page, Fiona! I love those beautifully transitioned washes and the accents in all the right places. Super piece!

Pen & wash in my sketch book. Did this whilst out on a walk to this local landmark, it is said to mark the spot that Robert Bruce had a little rest after defeating the English in battle in 1307. There are meant to be several other Bruce's stones dotted about the same area, marking other battle sites. It seems he had lots of little rests!lol
