Burrowhead - Isle of Whithorn

Comments

The simplicity of this picture is its strength. I love the bold lines in the landscape.

Agree with Stevan’s comments!

Very good. I agree with Stevan too.

Thank you very much Stevan, Jenny and Margaret.

Love the sky Fiona its contradictory, simple but complex at the same time if you know what I mean strength and movement? (you know what I am Like :) ) Like the others really like the bold strong lines. Nice one.

Malcolm, thank you very much for your interesting comment. I see what you mean regarding the the sky now that you have drawn my attention to it.

Strong and confident brush strokes Fiona . Especially in the sea. Lovely!

Thanks very much Sarah for your lovely comment.

14”x12” watercolour, black and white conte crayon on Arches. Painted this a while back, it’s just up the coast from the Isle of Whithorn on the Galloway coast. Perhaps only a few of you are familiar with this place but many of you will be familiar with the cult film of the seventies, The Wicker Man. The burning of the Wicker man was filmed here, the stakes (legs) of the giant wicker man are still there teetering on the edge of the cliff.
