Ash and Ivy

Ash and Ivy

This works very well Fiona, sure looks cold!

Super mark making with the pen Fiona. A really lovely pen and wash.

What a lovely view from your window Fiona! We've only had the odd snow flurry down here on the south coast so it's a delight to see this beautiful pen and wash scene!

Another of your restricted palette pics - as Louise says, the strokes are very attractive, the light on the snow just right. Lovely movement too.

Love it Fiona. What a fantastic place to live. Beautiful quality colour and controlled painting. Excellent watercolour and I love everything about it

I love it when there is a story behind a picture. Lovely.

Yes Kal, smashing picture and story.

Thank you everyone for your very kind comments. This part of the field always looks different, depending on the light and time of year.

Magical! What a ale did view you have Fiona!

Wonderfully vibrant and atmospheric. Super work, Fiona!

This is great Fiona and a strong feeling of Winter. Love your palette too!

Sarah, Seok, Frank, Gudrun.....many thanks for your lovely comments. Frank, quite a limited palette; u. marine, p. grey, r.umber, b, umber and Indian ink for the pen work. Thanks all, again.

Hang on Studio Wall

Pen & wash of the hedgerow that runs from our paddock. There are severel old Ash trees that are totally covered with ivy and all you can see of the trees at this time of year are the whippy branches growing out of the ivy. As I can't get outdoors at the moment I did this from the kitchen window when we had the snow last week. The light coloured branch in front of the middle tree is a favourite scratching post with the sheep and cattle, and the righthand tree is where the Buzzards take their tasty morsels to eat!
