This looks good with it's bold, loose, strong colours Fiona. I don't usually see oil on paper.

Now that's come out really well Fiona and I recognise the place! I think the colours you've used are great, the rain looks as though it's coming down in sheets - it certainly was when we were there.

Like it very much Fiona, the colours brightening up an otherwise dreadful day.

This is so lovely Fiona, it may be chucking it down but yellow is such a lift to the spirit ;)

This has worked really well Fiona . I love the palette you have used.

You have developed cheeriness out of a dismal scene. Love those yellows and siennas. Great little painting Fiona.

Works really well Fiona.

Thank you Frank, I use the oil paper for sketching in oils or with something that I’m not too serious about the outcome. Ha ha .....Marjorie, that sounds about right. Thank you. Thanks Pete! The buildings on that side of the road are a mix of white and yellow David, they do brighten up the place a little. Thank you. Thanks Carole! Thought I would use the leftovers up Carol.....thank you.

Many thanks Carole a Tony, appreciate your feedback.

I like the rain in between the buildings and the yellow and red car lights reflecting on the wet road, and the street lights. love the style as well, Fiona.

I love this Fiona. Great colours and feeling of rain.

You have made the “ miserable view” shine Fiona .

I agree with the other comments, Fiona. This is very, very atmospheric.

Ah Fiona, there’s lightness and colour in the yellow buildings and the street lamps, which give a lift to the dreariness of a damp cold day which you’ve captured so well. This is everyday life, not always pretty or fun, but spring is not far away- or so they say!

Lovely loose work Fiona.

A much improved effort Fiona. Quite an impact with the yellow, I like it...

What a cracking painting, Fiona. The palette and fluid brushstrokes make this piece. Delightfully suggestive oil, with elements of impressionism and expressionism working well together. Love it! Bri

Yep, that darker sky adds so much to that rainy day feel. Also, I like the addition of the fine lines in the foreground which add to the feeling of moving cars all rushing along the wet road. Some lovely 'mark making' here. Infact, the more I look, the more I see. The brown building on the left side consists of some really good blocks of colour. Bold and atmospheric Fiona.

What an exciting palette, Fiona...loaded with atmosphere

You have created a look like it's raining really hard. I can sense no one wants to go out in it. It's brilliant.

I like this very much, Fiona. I liked the other one too.

Brilliant sense of light and place Fiona !!

Free and lovely. Love the colours and marks and as you know I am an advocate of using left over paint ....

Great colours for this rainy scene.

Thank you all for your lovely comments, I’m very grateful.

Looks like a right downpour from that sky Fiona but only you could turn a dreich scene into such a delightful painting.

Val, thank you, you are very generous.

Another beauty that I missed at the time.

16”x12” oil on Arches paper. Thought I would have another try at the miserable view from the county buildings window. The first attempt didn’t quite capture the dreich weather......used the left over paint from the cabin painting ....forum challenge.
