Fiona this is gorgeous - I love it. I love the movement and the colours in it. Truly striking!

Fiona, I like them both, but especially this one, the colours blend beautifully and it has a lovely movement to it. The 'kingfishers' work well too, a lovely abstract!

Thank you very much ladies, I like this one the better out of the two....well,' like' may be a little strong to describe my feelings towards it...lol

I really love it, very clever concept Fiona. Your blue/greens are rather good also.

I agree Fiona this has a beautiful flow and gels so well

Yes, I like both too - the splashes of orange work very well against the green, being nearly complementary. And the composition works. Sugar paper? Wow - haven't used that in 50 years, ie when I was at school. I remember it being rather fun to work on; didn't use oil paint on it, though.

Like it Foina, I can still tell they are kingfisher and I like the one stroke reeds.

I love the way you've developed this painting. I like all the versions but this one is my favourite Diana

Hi Fiona. Sorry I'm a bite late in commenting on your abstracts but it was a bit like 'Come Dine with me' in our house yesterday. A dinner party for six and no time to look properly at these two beauties. And they are indeed super paintings...I really like them both and must say how much I admire you for painting them especially as you weren't too keen on the idea and had your arm twisted somewhat..LOL. Seriously, the abstract thing was well worth doing even if to prove to yourself that you could do it and with such success. I'm a great believer in 'stretching' ourselves as far as our art is concerned and trying new ways of working otherwise we get a bit stuck for ideas and the excitement in creating art can be lost. This is what I think anyway and appreciate that some might not agree. You should be proud of yourself.

Very different Fiona and very striking, lots of movement and harmony in the colours, I must say you are far braver than I am, i could not even visualize something like this from my own mind, nice one.

Many thanks to you all for your continued support, encouragement and bullying (Louise) you give me confidence to try new ideas and as you say Louise, to stretch my own limitations. A BIG thank you!! Robert it's called sugar paper but it's very thick with a rough surface, more like a card and if you soak and stretch it like watercolour paper it goes hard, almost like leather. It takes oil well but dries quickly as it absorbs the oil a little.

Hi Louise, hope your dinner party went well! Thanks for having confidence in me, you seem to have rather more than I do in myself....lol I agree, on a personal level, it's good to have a go at something outside what we would normally do. I swap and change medium, style, and subject for that very reason but abstract really takes a lot of thinking about, it isn't as easy as just slapping paint on a canvas etc. I've got to rush, I start my new Saturday job today....to pay for my therapy!!!lol I will be sliding back into my comfort zone of scribbly pen & wash for a few days aafter yesterday. Thanks for the challenge X

Love the colours in this Fiona , it reminds me of wild orchids hidden among reeds.

Great impact Fiona!.

Hey! now you're buzzing. It's smashing Fiona

This is very effective Fiona, great.

This feels so much softer than the other one with lots of movement. I'd say it was a complete success, good for you for taking on Louise's challenge. ( Still like the other one though as well:) )

Chandra, Ruth, Derek, Frank, Val......thank you all very much indeed!

I love the feeling of movement in the birds. Clever lady !

Thank you very much Sarah....I don't know about the clever bit though...lol

I love this, Fiona! There's a sense of movement and life throughout the piece, and the palette is superb!

Thanks Seok!!

Like this, the colours are beautiful and the sweep of the brush strokes are full of movement.

16"x12" oil on sugar paper. Apologies for the two postings.....I did this one first and didn't think it was abstract enough.....but this is the one I prefer.
