Super restrained colours, and nice loose brushwork.

Great palette, Fiona. It works perfectly here.

You always surprise me with your art Fiona. Splendid work as ever.

A lovely loose painting Fiona and pallet too for this raised peat bog in Galloway. Looks so naturally formed and the trees with long reflections in the big too, well done!

in the bog too, well done Fiona.

Great use of colour, nicely done.

Good Fiona, colour in harmony, no hard edges and great brush work.

Excellent painting in oil and you been able to keep your looseness and freshness which you had with your watercolours which can’t be easy to do, well done Fiona and thank you for all your kind comments🙏👍

Love your vigorous brush strokes Fiona. This is so alive and full of interest.

Sounds a wonderful place Fiona and your painting is so atmospheric. I love the way you have painted the nearmost birch.

I’m liking this more confident approach to your oils Fiona… and your rendering of the reflected water is very impressive!

A wonderful scene Fiona.

Super painting Fiona.

The loose style works really well for this wooded scene Fiona, good one.

Good to see you popping out the oils Fiona, and I’m loving your brush marks here. Colours and tones all excellent. Confident and skilful painting with atmosphere-of course! Great subject too and interesting to know that you have ospreys there. We have plentiful red kites around here; used to be a rare sight, not any more!

Really good, great sense of place !

Sounds a lovely interesting bit of nature Fiona. Your painting is beautiful too.

Like the palette and the style, Fiona

Thank you all very much for you kind and supportive comments, they are very encouraging. Tessa…..I’m no longer involved with the site, I moved a couple of years ago……miss it though. I painted this from I sketch I did there.

I love that palette Fiona, especially the greys with suggestions of purple. Are you enjoying oils more than watercolour?

You can really sense that boggy landscape in this Fiona.

The textures just perfect for a mossy area.

Marjorie, David, Sandra…..thank you very much 🙏

Marjorie, still using watercolour and ink mainly for painting outdoors, at this time of year anyway. I’m trying to alter my attitude to oils, doing a bit more thinking before I slap it on! I’m also using only the three primaries plus white, which I hope will make a difference to how far I can carry my kit, come the better weather. 🤔

Well done. Love the abstract quality of the painterly shapes. Beautiful painting.

Many thanks once again Lynne, your comment is very much appreciated.

12”x9” oil on canvas. Carsegowan Moss is a raised peat bog in Galloway. There are flooded pool areas like this dotted around the woodland that surrounds the actual raised peat area……just through the trees in this view. I was a volunteer at the site keeping a record of the water levels and any other wildlife in the area, especially the Osprey nest in the breeding season.
