Towards Eggerness

Wonderful washes, Fiona!

Closer examination shows subtle layers and perspectives and it's an exciting painting. I was given a black chinagraph pencil. Does it rub off? I thought it was only for glass etc.

Lovely painting with beautiful washes and colours Fiona

I like the way your not afraid to experiment Fiona always something to learn from your work. And the mediums you use.

I do like this, Fiona. The addition of the pen brings it all together.

Interesting indeed! Some nice washes and I like the addition of the chinagraph pencil - I’ve got one floating around in the studio, waxy as I recall!

The squiggly dark pencil lines really work well against the lovely background washes. The lines seem to just pull the whole painting together perfectly. Well done Fiona and good on you for using different techniques!

You’ve achieved a lovely effect here Fiona! The black lines are the perfect finishing touch.

Thank you very much Cesare. I tried to build up the layers Gudrun, in fact I’m disappointed with the photo to be honest this looks washed out compared to the painting. The blues are much richer. Yes the chinagraph is for glass or white boards, which it does rub off but not on paper, it will just smudge. Thanks for your comment. David thank you. Thanks Chris, I couldn’t painting the same thing every time 🥱 thank you for your lovely comment. Thanks Marjorie, I really did control my need to do much, much more! Lol Alan thanks very much! I think they are waxy, I’ve got a couple of red ones somewhere as well. Many thanks Louise for your kind comment….you know me, I will try anything out! Thank you Christine. I’m relieved so many of you like the addition of the lines, I thought I had made a mistake after adding them.

Lovely washes, the dark whispers lines are a brilliant addition.

What a very original idea, Fiona. Great!

Colours and washes very attractive Fiona, love the dripping blues and gold, the interesting squiggly marks connect the whole painting.

Lovely impression Fiona and fabulous squiggly lines!

Love the way this flows Fiona. Really like the way you’ve painted the brown branches and the shapes and and dribbles of the bushes. Very painterly.

Very now Fiona. Mark making is contemporary art so you ate becoming very avont guard. Spelling may not be correct but you know what I mean.

I like this a LOT Fiona

What a wonderful painting!! Love the different washes.

Agree with other comments about the pen work, Fiona, it pulls it all together really well. Like the colours.

Always so much interest in your work Fiona - I love this.

Always something new Fiona !! To be honest a lot of what you do and achieve can go above my head, but the results of the dripping wash and pen make this a lovely painting.

I just love this, Fiona. The pen marks, just add to the beautiful flow.

Thank you Denise, Mia, Carole…… I used raw sienna deep shade. Thanks very much Diane…glad you like the squiggles, Carole, I did quite a bit of flicking and flirting at the paper! Stevan, I like ‘very now’, that will be a first for me, thank you. Many thanks Heather, David, Jenny for your feedback. Michael, I’m not telling fairy stories when I say there was definitely a shimmer. If you catch my other watercolour of across the Estuary I may have caught a little of it. Thank you. Thank you Jacqueline you are always very kind. Richard, I wet the paper and dropped the paint in, then did a bit of flicking with a brush loaded with paint…..thank you for your lovely comment.

Thank you Ellen, so pleased you like it, appreciate your comment.

Fascinating, Fiona

This piece has such a painterly quality to it. I love the wonderful meandering lines and the flowing washes. Mixed media at its best, Fiona!

Many thanks Thalia, Seok appreciate your kind comments.

This is lovely Fiona, I admire the squiggly lines for their simplicity, you must have been tempted to keep going I’m sure, I know I would have and spoilt it!

That’s the question Katy.….when to stop, I usually over cook it…..and I still think this needs just a few more squiggles, but it will refrain. Thanks Katy!

Loving this, colours and comp. Use of the chinagraph really effective.

I really like this! Could look at it for hours.

Many thanks Rachel and Carrie for your generous words.

16”x12” mixed media, chinagraph, oil pastel and watercolour on Saunders. The view towards Eggerness from the Crook of Baldoon, the first of a couple of paintings I did Tuesday afternoon. I did this one first to loosen up a bit and also gauge how quick the paper would dry out…..it was quite hot…..for Galloway. The second one turned out tighter than I wanted, I did start a third and fourth but the heat beat me….no shade on the Estuary.
