Port Castle Bay - Galloway

Well you’ve already shown me this one. You’ve developed a really excellent style here, some delicious mark making and individual passages - I’m well impressed...

This is gorgeous, Fiona - such a beautiful blue and a good style too -oh to be there!

A very successful acrylic painting, Fiona - full of energy, character and imagination...

A smashing scene Fiona, love it.

Very nice work Fiona, I thought you had stronger tones than usual, then noticed it was an acrylic. I tried them for a while some years ago, must dig them out.

A real stunner Fiona

Good composition Fiona, love the vibrant colours, acrylics are something I can't seem to get away with and now I'm into oils, I find them even harder to use, so well done with this painting 👍🤗

This looks really good Fiona, the colours on the forefront are very eye catching. You have also achieved the distant mistyness.

Very impressionistic Fiona.

This is excellent, Fiona! Certainly holds its own very well. Love the sense of movement, the energy and the textures. Beautifully done!

Thank you very much everyone for your welcomed and kind feedback. I seem to always be in a rush with acrylics and I don’t think about what and where I should be putting the paint/brush marks, very slap dash....more than I usually am, and it should be a more considered operation!

Beautiful and fresh. Well, I think you’ve come to grips with acrylics, the colours are lovely.

Thanks Ellen, I don’t find them easy to work with at all!

Love the colours and the summer mood. Recently restocked on acrylics but haven' t used them yet. Love to visit there again, love the area.

I’ve done the same Marjorie. I’ve replaced the old acrylics that I’ve had for about twenty years, they were heavy bodied and I couldn’t do a thing with them really. I’ve replaced with half a dozen new tubes and colours, split between Old Holland and W&N brand. The Old Holland are gorgeous to use, the blue in this is the OH Blue Light mixed with various strengths of OH Titanium Buff Light. I hope you do come over this way again, I’m sure you will.....I can’t wait to re-visit your area!

This is just super Fiona. I've never used acrylics but after viewing this I'm thinking of giving them a try. I recognise, though, that the success of this picture is less to do with the materials you've used than with the skill, sense of colour, technique and enthusiasm that you bring to all your work.

It looks pretty fabulous to me Fiona!

Thank you very much for your generous comments Terry, Russell, Sarah and Margaret, much appreciated. Margaret, hope you manage to get a trip down to Galloway fairly soon.

This is so good

Great energy and colour with bold brushstrokes Fiona.

Totally agree with all that Alan says!

This is such a refreshing painting with the subtle differences in the blues Fiona. Well done with the acrylics.

This is lovely Fiona, I think it’s all been said, great energy and movement.

Romila, Shaun, Thalia, Carole, Katy.....thank you all very much for taking the time to look and leave your lovely comments. Always appreciated.

This is stunningly good Fiona! I love it!

Thanks Diane, appreciate your feedback.....I’m still not too sure about this one.

So good Fiona beautiful colour and style

Thanks very much Dennis!

Beautiful colours Fiona, and great mark making. Don't give up on acrylics, you're doing very well with them.

16” x 12” Acrylic on paper. Trying to get to grips with Acrylics, not sure whether I could use them as a stand alone medium. I know I’m never going to get the results of other acrylic artists that I admire on the gallery. I think I will certainly carry on using them alongside other mediums though. Port Castle bay is where St. Ninian’s cave is situated.....which I’ve done paintings and collagraph prints of.
