Eggerness from the Crook of Baldoon

It’s a beautifully painted watercolour Fiona.

That was quick Paul! Thanks very much, it was a pleasure to do.....which is unusual for me. I think it’s the place, there was only my husband and myself there and we walked as far as we could towards the estuary but only had our boots on, and it’s very wet in places although the tide was out. The sea comes in quite a long way at a high tide.

A lovely "clean" watercolour Fiona. A naturist beach was it? Just your boots on....😉

Very nice, good feeling of distance.

Lol.....not quite Marjorie, I did have my hat on as well! Thank you. Thanks Stephen.

Very atmospheric with a lot of depth and perspective in it, Fiona. Great!

Lovely painting Fiona and one appears to be able to see for miles. It does look very restful there.

With a title like that it's got to be a great place to visit and sketch. Envy! -Love your watercolour.

Nice one Fiona,

Lovely loose watercolour sketch Fiona, love the foreground reeds etc, i also sometimes just do a watercolour instead of pencil, especially if it is not raining!!!!! Dave

Beautiful watercolour with loads of atmosphere, Fiona.

A lovely sketch Fiona

Love the beautiful colour blending of the land there Fiona, even a bit of sparkle on the water, fabulous.

As always, my thanks to you all for your wonderful encouraging comments. Thank you x

Sounds a fascinating area Fiona, and resulted in a lovely loose watercolour.

Lovely watercolour Fiona and I so love the place names!

Lovely job Fiona, some nice clean washes and pastel greens.

It is a lovely spot Michael about five miles away from me, in fact all along that peninsula to the other side...Garlieston and Rig Bay are also good spots to get away from the throng. Thank you. Many thanks Tessa, appreciated. Thanks Diane, yes some great place names here abouts, some I can’t even pronounce! Thanks very much Alan!

Fabulous piece just brimming with immediacy and life! I love the minimalism of the washes and brushwork. Really lovely work, Fiona!

Seok, your comments always give me such encouragement, thank you!

So simple and striking Fiona. Will look lovely framed in a white framing. Just lovely.

Fiona you always say so much with so little I love the colors in this they give a real feeling of that kind of land, you were lucky with the Peregrines the last time I saw any was in Glencoe many years ago, like the wall good effect, nice one.

You have caught a nice sunny day there. Full of atmosphere and light.

Jim, Malcolm, Gudrun.....my thanks for your lovely comments.

Lovely fresh colours and love the way you have got the sparkling water.

Beautiful Fiona yes I can lose interest for long periods of time nowadays

Many thanks Margaret and Dennis.......same here Dennis!

I like this a lot Fiona.

Bless you Sandra, thank you.

12”x10” watercolour on Waterford. Eggerness is on the western side of the Cree estuary and Wigtown bay. I did this sketch from the RSPB reserve at the Crook of Baldoon, there is nothing there but mudflats and wetland which at the moment is full of ripe grass/reed seed heads and wildflowers. Two tides a day ensure a rich feeding ground for waders and migrating geese, I was lucky enough to see a pair of Peregrines when I did this sketch.
