Really like this Fiona - lovely soft shading and really strong sketching. I agree, a magical place.

A sketch with a story! Well done, Fiona.

Nice framing of the subject, So many opportunities to sketch there -this one is good.

Simple and lovely

Love the upturned boats Fiona and a great composition.

A very lively sketch, with lovely line and tonal work. And what a great upcycling idea!

Excellent with great shading. The upturned boats are a good and different idea. Good to take photos of things a bit different !

Interesting little sketch Fiona, and good pencil work.

Nicely done Fiona I like the composition and your are correct it is a magical place, a few years back I spent a fortnight on the island in November and miraculously had 2 weeks of glorious weather, sunrises and sunsets to die for, I think I have some sketches in my gallery of the boat huts not sure, still have the sketch pads. Really nice sketch Fiona.

Thank you all very much, appreciate your lovely comments.

Hi Fiona, the boat hut sketch I did is in my gallery in the section Malcolm Buckley Wild Country page 5, I least it confirms to me my memory has not gone yet :)))

Nice work `Fiona.

Lovely sketch. I envy your skill in knowing when to stop.

Thank you for that Malcolm, I’m off to have a look! Derek, thank you very much! James, it’s the hardest part! Many thanks

Great little charcoal sketch Fiona. Always plenty to sketch in this area and loads of interesting things to paint.

I didn' t know you'd sneaked down to Holy Island. Fiona. Ah...last year. Very nice sketch.

Thank you for your comments on my boat hut sketch Fiona, but you have produced yours with charcoal and that is something I cannot seem to master, so nice one.

It’s a beautiful area Carole, thank you. Marjorie, I had every intention of sneaking over to Holy Island again this year, in fact, I had every intention of sneaking to a lot of places this year....never mind, there’s always next year! Thank you for your comment. Thanks Malcolm. Michael, you always open my eyes to something new in my paintings! Yes it does look like another boat.....lol. Maybe I was in the boat zone subconsciously? Thank you 😊

Great sketch Fiona, charcoal just adds a depth. You have such a good eye for an interesting composition.

Thank you very much ladies!

Thank you very much Jacky!

16” x 14” charcoal sketch on Strathmore charcoal paper. Composed from a sketch and photo taken on a visit to this magical place last year. Loved these quirky boats that have been recycled into storage sheds.
