Study in white

Very interesting Fiona. I am looking forward to seeing what comes next?

Yes, it’s a useful exercise in tonal structure, but not easy! I remember you doing a white one before, it was rather good as I recall. (Or was it grey?) Anyway, a lot of flat plains and objects to cope with here, so good luck. Is that a yellow colour that I can see in places? That needs to go!

Thank you Carol, I’ll do more next week but may not finish it off then. I’ll post the results. I did do a white one some time ago Alan, that’s been painted over many times since. It isn’t as difficult as abstracts! Well, about the yellow, I thought it was a tad too strong but when Davy saw it, he said leave it, it adds rather than detracts.... Thanks Alan for your invaluable feedback.

Looks an interesting exercise, Fiona - and very well done.

Always something different from you, Fiona ! and this the more you look at it the more you see, shading etc etc.

Very good Fiona and I like the use of colour it gives it life

24”x16” oil on sugar paper. Two weeks left of this terms art class, which has been solely dedicated to abstracts but for a treat, we are doing tonal and neutrals work for the remaining couple of weeks. I like doing these kind of exercises, I remember doing one with just black objects as well at some point. This is the blocking in stage. The apple and lime have been coated with gesso, in case you were thinking they were new varieties....lol.
