Kirkaig Falls

Kirkaig Falls

This reminds me of your 'Old Man of Stoer', has the same rugged feel to it, you've certainly captured the spirit of the place.

This is excellent Fiona. Well worth the climb and eggy sandwiches! I look forward to your next version of this, not that there is anything wrong with this beauty.

Absolutely wonderful sketch !

Wonderful rocks and rushing water. Really liking the sepia ink as well which gives a more gentle and subtle feel than black ink. A great sketch.

wow Fiona ,,I didnt think you would try this one .I think it is a hard subject ,, you have done a good job of it though //.keep em coming I am a scarey Mary who dodges painting waterfalls ,,

Thank you very much Debs, Gudrun, Beverley, Thea and Alan for your lovely comments. Alan, I don't believe for one minute that you would have any trouble painting waterfalls!! Lol!X

Fabulous sketch Fiona and I enjoyed reading your description!

Great interpretation of a gushing waterfall Fiona. Looks a beautiful place.

Thank you Louise, the description was far prettier than the site of me scabbling about over slippery rocks I can tell you! Many thanks Carole, yes it's a gorgeous spot and off the beaten track.

I seem to have missed this one Fiona -so glad I've found it now. It is really evocative of the splash and fall of the water. I can almost hear the thundering sound of the water.

A really fabulous piece, Fiona! The tonal work and the spontaneity of the atmosphere of the painting are superb!

You've depicted that rushing water brilliantly Fiona which has given us all a real feeling for the place. Excellent work. Hope you enjoyed your eggy sandwiches after your scramble down :)

Nicely done Fiona :)

Many thanks Carol, Seok, Val and Sarah. Val, the eggy sandwiches where easier to carry down than to carry back up, I'm sure it didn't seem that far down to the botton of the gorge, and the sandwiches must have gone straight to my legs!!Lol!

Lovely drawing! it is also interesting to see how you have captured the falling water with just ink!

Thank you very much Chris!

wonderful sketch

Thanks Ruthy, you're very kind.

Hang on Studio Wall

Kirkaig falls are at the end of a two and a half mile path, well goat track, more like. It's a bit of a climb down to the falls but well worth it once you've scrambled over the slippery rocks. I took some photo's but wanted to get this sketch down before I lost the feel of the place. Stayed long enough to have my eggy sandwiches then climbed back up again. Done in Sepia water soluable ink on Jackson's rough paper 12"x16"
