Lovely, lovely instantaneous sketch.. Also like your very limited palette. Yes it's pity it's right down the centre if your sketch book but what a great memory for you. I haven't been to the outer Hebrides only the inner Hebrides but this is certainly whetting my appetite.

Fantastic sketch Fiona

Just how a quick sketch should be.

Lovely sketch Fiona, haven't been to that part of the world either, it certainly looks inspiring.

Silly girl-- should have put the lighthouse on the right hand page --- Still good though

Sylvia, Petra, Michael Glennis, Charles....thank you all very much. Yes, Charles I am a silly girl but I was so eager to get the sky done I totally forgot about the composition.....it's only a sketch. Thanks again all.

Love the immediacy of this one, Fiona.

Pen & wash sketch. Stoer Head lighthouse was designed and built by the Stevenson's in 1870 at Stoer point. It isn't very tall as light houses go at only 14 metres, but it's height above sea level is 54 metres. It's position looks out over the Minch towards the outer Hebrides and is a super place for Whale, Dolphin and sea bird spotting.........only a five minute drive away makes it a perfect place to spend a morning. On this particular day driving up to it, the sky was almost black behind the lighthouse, wth just a chink of light at the horizon. Apologies for everything being stuck in the crease of my sketch book.
